The Chicago Trinity

Getting off the hire bus from Bus Rental Chicago, you’re likely to be feeling a little peckish. What better way to feed your hunger than to partake in the 3 famous Chicago foods. No visit to Chicago would be complete without you having tasted Chicago’s three most famous foods.
Start with a Chicago Hot Dog. Despite what New Yorkers may say, the Chicago Hot Dog is the king of all hot dogs and it is an absolute must for foodies who are visiting Chicago with a charter tour bus for the very first time. Influenced by Polish and German immigration over the years, Chicago takes its hot dogs very seriously indeed. You take an all beef sausage, Vienna beef by choice. You put the sausage in a poppy seed bun. You top it all off with mustard, tomatoes, dill pickle, chili peppers, diced onion, a sweet pickle relish and top it all off with a generous sprinkling of celery salt. Whatever you do, do not ask for ketchup on your Chicago hot dog. It is regarded as an abomination. Most hot dog places serious about their food will refuse to put ketchup on your hot dog if you ask for it, and the really serious places have signs on the walls saying they do not have any ketchup on the premises. The reason for this is that that sweet sugary taste of ketchup overwhelms the flavor of the beef sausage. In fact, anything that has a sugary aftertaste is forbidden on a Chicago hot dog.
Second in Chicago’s food trio is the Italian Beef sandwich. Most probably created by Italian American workers in Chicago’s stockyards, the Italian Beef sandwich features thinly sliced beef placed in a soft chewy bun. You are then offered a choice of 2 options. You can choose between sweet pepper or hot, and to have your sandwich dipped, or not. The sweet pepper is simply sauteed bell peppers, and the hot pepper is a mixed Chicago giardiniera. The dip is simply a quick dunking of the beef into a French broth. Be warned that dipped Italian Beef sandwiches will make a sloppy mess of your shirt if you are not careful. Unless you want to be seen eating the sandwich hunched forward like Igor, it might be best to skip the dip altogether.
If you cannot find the hotdog cafes, shops and stands, ask the locals during your charter bus visit, many will oblige. Many places say they have it, but the only place you can get an authentic Chicago Deep Dish pizza is in … Chicago. A Chicago Deep Dish pizza is a work of art, very delicious, and bad for your arteries. You take a deep dish, pull a thin dough to cover the base and sides. You then fill the dish with meats and vegetables. Ingredients most commonly used are sausage, peppers, cheese, and others. Tomato sauce is is added on top, and the whole thing is baked. What comes out of the oven is a gooey, sloppy mess that tastes like nothing else. For, sure, it will leave a very deep, long-lasting impression and it will something you will miss once your charter bus tour is over.
